Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesia(MOCA)

MOCA

A 2009 survey of anesthesiologists completed by the American Society of Anesthesiologists showed that anesthesiologists want and need to obtain high-quality simulation training. The ASA and the American Board of Anesthesia (ABA)supports the specialty’s growing desire for high-quality simulation through its Simulation Education Network (SEN). The University of Chicago Simulation Center is endorsed by the ASA/ABA to provide training to satisfy the requirements of the ABA’s Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesia (MOCA) Part IV.

The University of Chicago Simulation Center is providing high-caliber education opportunities and that is why we felt it was important to obtain the endorsement. Anesthesiology has traditionally been at the forefront of simulation research and training, and ASA’s leadership in establishing the endorsement program reinforces that this type of training remains a top-priority for the specialty.

Participation in a MOCA course at the University of Chicago will fulfill the Part IV requirement of the American Board of Anesthesiology’s (ABA) Maintenance of Certification. Please consult the ABA website, www.theABA.org, for a list of all MOCA® requirements.
